Charcoal Course 25th and 26th May, Bewdley, Worcs.
Prior to becoming a full time artist, I was a teacher working with community groups and young people. I love the warm, friendly atmosphere of a workshop and these small classes will be both fun and informative. If you’re interested in getting to grips with charcoal, then this is the course for you! Each student will go home with a beautifully rendered charcoal piece of work.
Find out how to render all creatures great and small in charcoal on this weekend course in the beautiful Georgian, riverside town of Bewdley, Worcestershire. This course is appropriate for all levels of artists, from hobbyist to professionals. Taught in the warm and welcoming atmosphere of Bewdley Museum.
Lunch is provided on both dates and as well as an evening meal on Saturday 25th May for those wishing to partake.
The workshop covers:
Obtaining the correct image to work from, with discussion as to sourcing images, copyright and making them "charcoal friendly"
Seeing light and dark and all the shades in between
Qualities and characteristics of paper and types of charcoal
Transferring images onto card
Effectively adding and removing charcoal using natural and compressed charcoal and a variety of erasers.
Materials are to be bought by the students - a list will be prepared prior to the course
Why not make a weekend of it! Bewdley is famed for its many sites and attractions including the Severn Valley Railway and Bewdley Brewery. A list of local accommodation will be sent out to those wanting to stop overnight.
